The Non-Resident High Commissioner of Singapore to Ghana, Hawazi Diapi has welcomed his country’s decision to deepen bilateral relations with Ghana as part of exploring opportunities in addition to building a mutually beneficial and deeply-satisfying relationship.
He gave the assurance during a luncheon with some selected journalists made up of the Chief Executive Officer of the Diplomatic Affairs Media and Communications Limited Harriet Nartey who also doubles as host of Diplomatic Affairs, Martin Asiedu Dartey of TV3 and the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation’s senior editor, Edward Nyarko at the Polo Club Restaurant in Accra.
At the meeting, he enquired from journalists the country’s political situation, elections that shifted power from the opposition to the current administration, praised Ghana for the smooth transfer of power and the manner in which citizens conducted themselves. The meeting also afforded the three journalists to share with the High Commissioner the role of the media in governance and serving as a watch dog in the interest of the people.
Another key feature in the conversation was the cultural diversity of the Ghanaian people and how that has united the people at crossroads. On exchanges between the two countries, the Chief Executive Officer of the Diplomatic Affairs Media and Communications Limited Harriet Nartey said ‘’Cultural exchanges is one strategic tool that brings people together’’ urging the diplomat to focus on that direction in forging closer ties between the people of Singapore and Ghana.
Senior correspondents from TV3 and the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Martin Asiedu Dartey and Edward Nyarko respectively also touched on the need for both countries to exchange knowledge in Fintech, Foreign Direct Investment and professional hospitality services as part of expanding their economic aspirations.
The High Commissioner was on an official visit to Ghana and will also tour some African countries.
